January winter wedding in Milwaukee

Getting married in the Milwaukee winter does require some extra planning due to the weather; however, winter weddings have their own appeal and advantages, including venues that are available for a lower price during the colder months, and accommodations for the guests are easier to arrange when it’s off session. Also, makeup would not be affected due to sweat and hot weather.

Janelle and Mark got married on January 5th. During the planning process, we had two locations in mind for pictures, the first location being an indoor location (the Hilton Garden inn, where they’re staying for the night).

The second location was Lake Park because we wanted some outdoor pictures regardless of how cold the weather will be. Fortunately, the temperature was in the 50s.

Outdoor winter sessions must be shorter, and they do require some extra preparation. My number one concern is to make sure that the couples are warm, and comfortable and that they’re enjoying the experience.

The ceremony took place at the Old Saint Mary.

Janelle & Mark where inspired by the Dirty Boots and Messy Hair style, and they requested that their pictures were to be edited by their filters.

The couple envisioned a romantic, organic, simple wedding with a touch of a BoHo style. The locale cozy coffee shop downtown (the Milwaukee Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company) was the perfect venue to complement Janelle & Mark’s vision for the day.

The log tables were decorated with red candles, berries, pine branches and pine cones.
